The frontier of transportation lies in digital transformation. In the coming years automation, connectivity, visibility and agility will be perfected, as digitalization in the freight forwarding and logistics industry continues to make great strides. Here are five major trends that are shaping the freight forwarding and logistics industry – all of them linked to digital transformation.
Perishables are in demand around the globe, all year long. Success in this industry depends on a logistics provider that can ensure products such as flowers, fruits or fish, are safely and efficiently steered through the cool chain on the way to final destination. Panalpina has acquired several specialized companies and aims to become the preferred global supplier of perishables logistics by 2020.
Panalpina is one of the world’s leading providers of supply chain solutions to businesses. The company combines its core products – Air Freight, Ocean Freight, and Logistics and Manufacturing – to deliver globally integrated, tailor-made end-to-end solutions for twelve core industries. Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, it is a publicly traded company, listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange.
New rules on ship emissions that are coming into force on January 1, 2020, are already starting to have an impact on the ocean freight industry. Cargo owners are affected in two major ways: increased cost and potential supply chain disruptions. Panalpina is here to support customers in the transition. Download the graphic here.
