News   •   Apr 12, 2018 10:20 GMT

If rockets can be reused, then a lot of other things should be too! Today is World Remanufacturing Day. Remanufacturing and the circular economy go hand in hand and Panalpina helps its customers make the transition to circular supply chains in multiple industries; remanufacturing mobile phones, repairing telecoms equipment, repacking fashion products and screening and testing optical equipment.

A taste for less waste

A taste for less waste

News   •   Dec 04, 2017 13:00 GMT

The purchase of a product often marks the end of a supply chain. But increasingly consumers are questioning the traditional linear process of “take, make, dispose”, demanding that manufacturers and retailers ensure that they reduce or eliminate waste. In the circular economy, logistics companies play an important role in extending the life of products through reuse, remanufacturing and recycling.

The Port House in Antwerp with its distinct buildings and triangular facets epitomizes the growth and strategic location of the Port of Antwerp. The Belgian box port is the second busiest in Europe, nestled in a region that boasts one of Europe’s best multimodal infrastructures. Only 500 m away, still within the port, Panalpina is turning its warehouse into a GDP certified pharma center.

Separate bedrooms

Separate bedrooms

News   •   Nov 30, 2016 08:45 GMT

At Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, Panalpina now operates two facilities, separated by a runway. One is dedicated exclusively to healthcare products, the other to perishables and general cargo. It's like having two bedrooms in a marriage, separated by a long corridor with lots of shiny lights on the sides. An odd idea, you may say, but it can actually make perfect sense (and save marriages).

Would you be happy with 99%? Sure, the answer to that question depends on ‘99% of what?’ But in most cases you probably would be. Panalpina’s Air Freight team certainly was happy with 99%. Actually, they were delighted.

Panalpina will soon be offering comprehensive value-added warehousing and global transportation services to IBA from its hub at Brussels Airport. For this purpose, a new 2,800 m2 facility is being built. Construction is about to begin.

Shippers: Make sure you tick, and weigh, all the boxes

News   •   Jun 30, 2016 22:00 GMT

The new international box weighing rules for ocean freight are now in effect, stipulating that shippers of a packed container are responsible for determining and declaring the verified gross mass (VGM) per container prior to defined cut-off times. This brand-new infographic illustrates the process shippers have to follow, and explains how to determine VGM and submit the data to Panalpina.

Nicole brings it home

Nicole brings it home

News   •   Jun 23, 2016 11:15 GMT

It was a big night for Nicole and Panalpina. She has won Cardiff University’s ‘People’s Choice’ award for her work on Panalpina’s new inventory forecasting application ‘Demand-Driven Inventory Dispositioning’, in short ‘D2ID’. During a black-tie dinner at Cardiff University, the business innovation award was also officially handed over to Panalpina by Innovate UK.

Nicole needs you!

News   •   Jun 07, 2016 14:30 GMT

Her family name is almost as complicated as the mathematics behind Panalpina’s new inventory forecasting application: Ayiomamitou. Nicole by first name and of Greek origin, she has spent most of her time in the past three years to search for the ‘hidden formula’ for lean inventories. Will her work with Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University, win the ‘People’s Choice’ award? Vote for Nicole!
