Bruno is pretty upbeat these days. A few weeks ago, he reached an agreement with Belgium-based medical device company IBA. Panalpina will soon be offering comprehensive value-added warehousing and global transportation services to IBA from its hub at Brussels Airport. For this purpose, a new 2,800 m2 facility is being built. Construction is about to begin.

Cameron Kerr is supervising the construction of Panalpina’s giant new Logistics Manufacturing Services center at Dubai World Central Airport. 90% of the building has been constructed and completion is planned for mid-August. The 40,000 m2 facility will enable Panalpina to grow its logistics and freight forwarding business in the MEAC region.

The new international box weighing rules for ocean freight are now in effect, stipulating that shippers of a packed container are responsible for determining and declaring the verified gross mass (VGM) per container prior to defined cut-off times. This brand-new infographic illustrates the process shippers have to follow, and explains how to determine VGM and submit the data to Panalpina.

It was a big night for Nicole and Panalpina. She has won Cardiff University’s ‘People’s Choice’ award for her work on Panalpina’s new inventory forecasting application ‘Demand-Driven Inventory Dispositioning’, in short ‘D2ID’. During a black-tie dinner at Cardiff University, the business innovation award was also officially handed over to Panalpina by Innovate UK.

36 Million 20-foot containers were moved through the port of Shanghai in 2015. In the world’s biggest port, the very physical nature of international trade is apparent like nowhere else. Globally, 130 million containers are shipped across the seas year after year – of which Panalpina handled 1.6 million for its customers in 2014.
