Panalpina confirms that the Ernst Göhner Foundation, Panalpina's largest shareholder representing approximately 46% of the total share capital, informed the Board of Directors that it does not support the current non-binding proposal from DSV and that it supports Panalpina’s Board of Directors in pursuing an independent growth strategy that includes M&A.

The Panalpina Charter Network can now be easily accessed online. Panalpina’s new charter tool provides an up-to-date overview of scheduled cargo flights and of all cargo aircraft in the world – big and small – available for chartering on any given day. The charter tool features drag-and-drop origin and destination functionality, and shows current aircraft availability by geography and routes.

Panalpina is ready to support Ocean Freight customers in dealing with higher costs and potential disruptions as a result of the lower sulfur limits. Already this year, cargo owners will feel the impact of new rules on ship emissions coming into force. From 2020, the sulfur content of bunker fuels will be reduced to 0.5 percent, compared to 3.5 percent now in most parts of the world.

Last May, Panalpina added Querétaro International Airport (QRO) in Mexico to the “Speedy” loop of its Charter Network, making it the first and only company to offer a transatlantic flight from Querétaro to London Stansted Airport (STN) in the UK and to Luxembourg (LUX) via Huntsville, offering contingency solutions for medical, food supply and other urgent goods in light of Brexit.

Together with Cargo iQ fellow member and long-standing partner Cargolux, Panalpina has just been awarded with the first prize of the first ever Cargo iQ Q Rally, an industry initiative aimed at continuously improving data quality in air freight. For the first time in its history, LATAM Cargo flew a direct route between the cities of Bogotá, Colombia, and Huntsville, Alabama, United States. The new cargo-only route was opened on December 2, 2018, and will be operated once weekly. The new service marks an important milestone for Panalpina as the company continuously expands its Charter Network and the Perishables Network.

Same as last year, Panalpina assisted UNICEF by flying relief aid to Africa to help children in South Sudan, where the humanitarian needs after years of conflict remain massive. A Panalpina chartered cargo aircraft landed last night in neighboring Uganda, carrying nearly 70 tons of supplies. The supplies will be trucked to South Sudan and distributed across the country as the dry season begins.
